Vampire Knight - Review

Category: Vampire Knight, Anime Reviews @ 9:44 pm

Ok… so I spent 3 hours of my day marathoning the rest of Vampire Knight.
geez… in the middle of every episode I kept wondering… "when the heck is this episode over ~_~?"
I’d pause in between to chat with my friends cuz this anime just bored me. Forgive me, Vampire Knight fans, but I think this anime is a tad bit over rated.
If I were to describe Vampire Knight in one word… it’d be cheesy.

The whole concept of vampires in was always cheesy in my opinion, and I had my hopes up really high for this anime. Unfortunately, I put my hopes up a little too high and ended up disappointed.

One of the biggest flaws of Vampire Knight are the characters. Most of the characters in this anime are just there to appeal to fan girls. I’d say 80% of the characters in this anime are bishies with very little difference in personality ~_~;; I mean, it took me a while to tell the difference between Kain and Aidou cuz they looked, well, the same to me. A lot of characters were introduced at once, and because the first season was so short, there wasn’t enough time to get comfortable with all the characters. Even after watching the whole series and reading the manga, I can admit that I barely know the names and faces of the students in the night class. And I’m usually good with names >_>;;
Now, the characters like Yuuki and Kaname don’t have very flexible personalities in my opinion. I can tell that these two characters are barely going to develop throughout the series. I mean, in the first season, Kaname stayed pretty much the same, no real change. As for Yuuki, I did see a slight change in her opinion towards vampires as well as Zero, but in my opinion, the only character that’s REALLY developing is Zero. However, Zero has a grudge against like… everyone. This really conflicts with my enjoyment of the series because it ends up being, well…repetitive. The anime keeps on making flash backs about Zero and it’s 60% of the time about how he came about to hate someone, or how someone led him to hate vampires, how someone hates him, etc…

I think another flaw, that can’t exactly be helped, is how Vampire knight is airing at the same time as Special A and Shugo Chara. Both SA and SC have the "exclusive" classes. Special A is a class of students with supernatural powers and intelligence, and Shugo Chara has the Guardians. Vampire knight has the Night classes, and the unrealistic + ANNOYING fangirls who obsess over them. So I feel like I’m seeing the same idea eaten and pooped out over and over. This is another reason why i find Vampire knight pretty cheesy :P Again, this can’t be helped, and if I watched Vampire Knight before Special A and Shugo Chara i probably wouldn’t think this way.

As for the story, Vampire Knight is a good idea that was not executed very well. I feel like it won’t go any deeper than grudges, angst and vampire hunting. There is a tad bit of romance and comedy, but it’s really not enough to save the series for me. Yes, there is chemistry between Yuuki and Zero. Maybe it’s just me, but i didn’t feel anything for those two…

I can’t really find anything about this series that I like. I think that fangirls just obsess over this anime because of Zero or something cuz the story just didn’t do it for me.

So the first season left me really disappointed, but I’ll give this anime a second chance with the second season. Maybe someone can prove me wrong, I dunno, but I predict my opinion of this anime will not change. I will always think of Vampire Knight as a cheesy anime.

Vampire Knight - 07

Category: Vampire Knight @ 1:01 pm

I’M BEHIND Q_Q yes, i’m totally aware that Vampire Knight has already ended *cries*.
I was about to drop this series but you know… Vampire Knight Guilty is coming out and I feel like adding that anime to my list lol. So I’ll just review the rest of the Vampire Knight episodes for the hell of it…

I’ll describe this episode in one word…really boring ~_~;;

So we begin the episode with Yuuki and Zero. Zero is reminded that Yuuki would have preferred her blood to be sucked by Kaname-senpai instead of Zero. Poor Zero q_q…

Yuuki is lying in her bed reflecting over her past, so we go into a fancy flash back episode of how Yuuki and Kaname grew closer to each other and how Zero fiddles in with all this.

Basically, Yuuki lost all her memories after being attacked by a vampire. Kaname saves her and takes her to Kaien Cross who adopts her. It’s obvious that Yuuki deeply admires Kaname, since the first word she was able to say was "Kaname".

After wards, Zero is introduced all beaten up after being attacked by a vampire. It’s obvious that Zero hates vampires as he attempts to attack Kaname with a… *ahem* butter knife. The episode goes more into depth of Zero’s hatred towards vampires, blah blah blah…

Yuuki sneaks into the night class, the vampires of that class apparently brush her off as a fan. She falls asleep on the stair way where Kaname finds her. Yuuki wakes up to be found in Kaname’s room, where she can hear Ruka and Kaname right next door. She takes a peek only to find that Kaname is sucking Ruka’s blood. gasp.

So in all, this was kind of a boring flash back episode. I didn’t completely fall asleep, nor did I find it extremely enjoyable. This episode kind of pointed out all the obvious things that have been emphasized in the previous episodes, they just took all that and put it in a flash back. I don’t really have much to say about this episode so I’ll just end the blog post here :P

Overall Episode Score: 7.5/10
