Quick Thoughts - Kuroshitsuji & Hyakko

Kuroshitsuji
Episode Score: 8.3/10
The BGM… oh my gawd. Right away, I fell in love with the music. Absolutely brilliant music. Is it just me, or do ALL the anime of Fall 2008 have top notch animation? Or maybe I’m just picking the anime with nice animation to watch. Very nice backgrounds, I really love the production value. However, this episode was on the rather dull side in my opinion… I mean the animation and music was nice, but as an episode it was OK. So the butler’s name is Sebastian? I’m sorry, but I’m pretty sure 80% of the people who watched this laughed XDD As for Ciel.. I dunno. This whole anime has a very "dark" side to it, so in a way, it felt dull. Or maybe I’m just really sleepy o_O;; Anyways, I’ll watch maybe 2 more episodes of this anime and see if I want to continue. I’m trying to be more wise with the series I watch, and so far this anime doesn’t appear to have a definate plot. Until I grab hold of the plot this anime delivers, I’ll feel the tendancy to drop this series.

Hyakko
Episode Score: 7.8/10
Again… either I’m really tired, or this episode was dull too. Great animation, I love the shadowing and the background… but the episode was just about some stereotypical shy girl getting lost in a big school. The first half of this episode was dull and boring… they were just walking around the school being lost and what not. Nothing happened. But when Torako appeared, the episode came on a more comedic side and became exactly what I was looking for in this anime. Sadly, the humor only lasted like the last 10 minutes of the episode. If the second episode can step up and avoid that boring slice of life crap, I’ll keep watching this series. But if you know me well, I’m not a big fan of slice of life. I hate it when anime goes nowhere. Unless it’s funny and crazy like Seto no Hanayome and School Rumble, this anime won’t make the cut for me.

I haven’t watch Kuroshitsuji yet. Maybe I’ll give it a try after few episodes and some other people respond. I watched Hyakko and what can I say I really like it XD. I’m a whore when it comes to slice of life anime. Well, the animation could have been improve. I’m sure the humour will increase after this. Just stay tune for couple episodes, Mel. Beside it’s only 13 episodes. Can’t be that bad, right ?

lawl. by animation, i mean the production quality of the animation. in my book, art style and animation are two totally different topics. i don’t like the art style of hyakko, but i LOVE the animation. IMO, hyakko has better animation than Kuroshitsuji BUT Kuroshitsuji has better art style than hyakko. oh lawd, i’m not sure if i’m making any sense. anyways, yeah :P i’ll watch like 3 episodes of hyakko to decide if i should continue. i have such a tight schedule that i’m BOUND to drop some anime.

Animation =/= artwork ?? Boooooo……….you are not making sense at all, Mel =P and you call yourself anime lover XD. lol. Anyway, I did watch Kuroshitsuji last night. Yes, I’ll say the animation was better…..I mean the artwork was better. I’m confuse. See what have you done to me, Mel =P. I thought it would be funnier but the joke was kinda dull. Oh well, I’ll see couple more episodes to decide.

Oh my gawd o_O;; i need to go into like… a VERY long explanation about the difference between animation and art style. They’re two completely different topics o_o one of my pet peeves is people who just don’t get the difference and think that animation and art style are the same thing, when animation is really what determines the quality of an anime, NOT the art style T___T;;

Haha, I was just teasing you, Mel. Got you =P
I understand the whole thing. Animation to me is like how the overall episode presents from the music, background, character interaction and etc. Which is the main thing for the enjoyment. While the artwork to me is mainly the art style or just the appearance of the drawing XD.
But if you still want to discuss/argue more. Then bring it on, Mel =P

kurishitsuji is surely a dark story but pretty mainstream with some stereotype characters. however, what makes me personally like it is becoz it is good on the plots. the writer also was good on placing supporting character. no supporting character has no important impact to the story.
anyway, i found u from MyAnimeList Anime bloggers union. :)
