Fall 2008 Anime Line Up [Preview]
Yeah, I’m aware that it’s only been 2 weeks since the summer anime released but i like getting ahead of myself xD Plus, I’m skipping out on the summer anime because nothing really grabbed my attention. Since it’s still the second week of July, this might not be all the anime that’s going to air so I’ll update this as more anime gets announced. So with no further ado, here is the Fall 2008 Anime Preview!

Anime: Clannad ~After Story~

ANN Synopsis (of the first season): Tomoya Okazaki is a third year student labelled as a delinquent. Everything seems to be unchanging for his school life until he meets Nagisa, and Tomoya finds that his life is about to change. He starts to have dreams of a bleak world and meets a girl who has the ability to fuse junk together in order to create things, and doing so, creates a body out of junk for him. He is then reborn into this empty world and follows around the girl, the only two existences who are "alive".
Thoughts: FINALLY. I had a feeling this anime was airing in fall, but I didn’t want to say anything until KyoAni officially confirmed. Cuz you know… haruhi 2 hasn’t aired when it was rumored to air 2 years ago >_>;; Anyways, YES. Those who know me know I love Clannad. I saw the Clannad movie, so i have a good idea of what’s going to happen but I know kyo ani will add stuff to this series that wasn’t in the movie. I’m really excited <3 The movie made me cry, I’m hoping this series takes it to the next level :3 With Junjo Romantica, Clannad, Casshern, and all the other series i listed under "VERY interested", Fall season will out beat Spring and Summer season fosho <3

Sugoi’s Synopsis: Award wining Toradora! (Tiger vs Dragon) is a high school love comedy between the delinquet Takasu Ryuji and the most dangerous "animal" at school, Aisaka Taiga. Taiga and Ryuji come off to instantly dislike each other, but by coincidence and family problems, they end up living right next door to each other. Both Ryuji and Taiga have love interest in other people and try to help each other out to be with their one true love. But will they end up with their high school crush, or with each other?
Thoughts: YES! This is the exact kind of anime that I’ve been looking for! I’m really into anime that focus on one couple, especially in high school relationships. Wai wai wai~~ Toradora is being produced by J.C. Staff and their work includes Azumanga Daioh, Honey and Clover, and Nodame Cantabile. I also looked into the voice actors. Kugimiya Rie (Shana, Nagi, Louise) is voicing for Taiga and Nojima Hirofumi is vocing Ryuji. Both have been involved in Shakugan no Shana, so I’m hoping that Taiga doesn’t end up being one of those annoying tsundere characters. URASAI URASAI URASAI. But I’m still a big fan of the romance genre, so this will be one of the anime I’ll definatly watch.
Anime: Junjo Romantica Second Season

Synopsis: Misaki is suddenly having some unexpected and odd problems. What started as a need for some college entrance exam tutoring has somehow led him to being romanced by a suave older man who also happens to be his big brother’s best friend.Confused by all of his brand new emotions, Misaki struggles to deal with his suddenly very odd life. And if that wasn’t enough, his suitor, Usami, has plenty of issues of his own. A man-child who decorates his room with giant teddy bears and toys, Usami is a famous novelist who also writes steamy boys’ love novels on the side. Junjou Romantica focuses on three different sets of lovers, each with their own compelling stories, these other two couples are introduced in Egoist and Terrorist.
Thoughts: Um…HELL YES. If anyone doesn’t already know me, I’m a HUGE fan of Junjo Romantica. Not so much a big fan of yaoi, but DEFIANTLY Junjo Romantica. The first season blew me away. I’m so excited for the second season <3
Anime: Yozakura Shijuusou (Yozakura Quartet, Quartet of Cherry Blossoms in the Night)

Manga Updates Synopsis: Akina, Hime, Kotoha and Ao are four members of the Hiizumi Seikatsu Soudan Jimusho (Hiizumi’s Everyday-life Consultation Office), which in addition to helping kindergartners deal with tough times, strives to preserve the peace of their little town, Sakurashin, by hunting down the troublemakers who dare threaten it.
Thoughts: Just judging by the art and synopsis, this is the EXACT kind of anime that I’m looking for. I’ve also read a few other summaries, and they mention super natural powers. The main character also looks really unique and appealing so it’s just some of the elements that are drawing me into watching this anime :D
Anime: Skip Beat

ANN’s Synopsis: The story revolves a teenaged girl named Kyōko who followed her childhood friend Shō to Tokyo as he pursues his dream of becoming a star. Despite playing housekeeper and taking care of Shō, Kyōko overhears Shō dismissing her as a boring nobody. Furious, Kyōko vows to also become a singer and defeat Shō.
Thoughts: LAWL WTF wow I thought there was already an anime for this series xD I saw it at the library and was like "hmm maybe I’ll check out the anime…" Well whadya know, it’s releasing in October xD This will defiantly be on currently watching list. I’m really in to the romance genre, especially when it’s adapted from an anime published in early 2000’s. Those were like… the golden ages for romance manga. This anime is also being produced by the same producers as Toradora, so that’s something to look foward to!

ANN Synopsis: A MADHOUSE remake of Tatsunoko Production’s Shinzo Ningen Casshan, a cyborg who rises against the robotic armies that have subjugated all of humanity.
Thoughts: At first I wasn’t all that interested, but then i saw the trailer and realized that Madhouse is running this anime. One word. Hell Yes. I am SO watching this anime!

Thoughts: Well, I’m not totally sure if this anime is airing in October… but it’s listed on Moonphase so I figured why not add it to the list. i saw the trailer on the official website and the animation looks VERY top notch. I don’t watch too many sports series, so i figured I’d give this a shot.
Anime: Nodame Cantabile - Paris Chapter

ANN Synopsis: At a top music academy in Japan, Shinichi Chiaki’s arrogance is matched only by his top-notch piano playing. Chiaki is left to pursue his dream of being a composer while surrounded by a bunch of loser musicians and one annoying girl, Noda, who has proclaimed herself Chiaki’s girlfriend. It doesn’t help that Noda, who insists on being called Nodame, lives right next door to him.
Thoughts: I’ve never seen the first season T___T *shun shun shun* So over July, August, and September I’ll watch the first season because I’ve REALLY been wanting to watch this anime but my anime schedule is already stuffed as it is D:

Thoughts: You want to know what really rocked about the website? It was in ENGLISH xD And good english too o_O. I was expecting a little engrish lol. So yeah, I heard of this anime waaay back in like 2007 so now it’s finally being released! This looks like it has the same potential as Code Geass, I mean mechas and girl giving guy special powers and all. I’ll give this one a shot because this looks like a really good mecha anime.

Wiki Synopsis: The series centers around the "Corpse Princess" Makina Hoshimura, an undead girl who is hunting down 108 undead corpses, or zombies, in order to gain entry into heaven.
Thoughts: GAINAX FTW! Yay~ Another anime by Gainax. Though the art and the synopsis doesn’t totally appeal to me, I always look foward to any work by Gainax. Who knows, this anime may end up being my new obsession

Synopsis: Kyou no Go no Ni revolves around Sato Ryota, a 5th grader in an elementary school. He is a bright and active boy but always manages to get in to a bit of ecchi troubles with his classmate girls
Thoughts: I saw the OVA for this series and it was HILLARIOUS. If you love Minami Ke, you’ll defiantly love this one! I’m really hoping the TV series is just as funny, or possibly funnier than what i saw in the OVA.

Thoughts: Alright. Ghosts. Spirits. Hunting. Not the most original thing I’ve ever heard, but hey, it’s worth a shot?

Thoughts: This series looks like it has potential, but I’m just not a big fan of the Sci Fi military stuff. Even if this ends up good, series like this make no sense to me and I end up getting bored. This is all just my opinion.

Below are series that don’t exactly appeal to me, but might turn out good. I’ll wait and see if the ratings for these anime go up and if the popularity is very demanding. Until then, I have chosen not to watch the series listed below.
Anime: Kemeko Deluxe!

ANN’s Synopsis: The story centers on a typical high school boy and a super-deformed, doll-like robot that suddenly appears in his bedroom. The robot declares itself to be the boy’s wife, and only then does a beautiful girl emerge out of the robot’s mouth. The girl turns out to be someone who was promised the boy’s hand in marriage ten year earlier.
Thoughts: Oh dear lord. This sounds just like To-Love-Ru. FANSERVICE. But you know, I decided to look at the preview and it looks pretty damn cute. I’m not totally interested in this anime, but the art looks appealing. Hal Film Makers is producing this, their works include Pretear and Princess Tutu. I’m considering if I want to watch this anime, but this series looks like it’ll bore the hell outta me.
Anime: Shugo Chara!! Doki

Synopsis: Amu Hinamori is a student at Seiyo Elementary, where she has a reputation for being "cool and spicy"; however, her real personality is that of an extremely shy and easily intimidated girl. One night Amu makes a wish that she would have the courage to be reborn as her "would-be" self. The next morning Amu finds three brightly colored eggs—red, blue, and green—in her bed. Each egg eventually hatches into a Guardian Character: Ran, Miki, and Su. Guardian Characters are angel-like beings that aid a person into becoming their "would-be" selves and fulfill the person’s dreams. The Guardian Characters accomplish this by giving encouragement and advice, but they can also temporarily change a person’s personality and abilities. With the Guardian Characters, Amu’s life becomes much more complex as she now struggles to deal with her new personalities and the Seiyo Elementary Guardians—a student council group where each member has their own Guardian Character—who recruits Amu to search for and seal the X eggs and X Characters, corrupted forms of people’s dreams.
Thoughts: I was bored to death with the first season. If the second season is 26 episodes or less, I MIGHT watch it.

Synopsis: Our unlucky protagonist, Jin, uses the trunk of a sacred tree to carve a statue for a school project. When he takes it outside, to his surprise it begins absorbing the surrounding earth and transforms into, hold your breath on this one, a girl! So like all similar setups this guardian deity is pretty pissed that her tree was cut down and lives with Jin while she takes out her anger on squashing bugs….er, cleaning the "Impurities".
Thoughts: I don’t know what exactly to think of this anime. The synopsis is very simple, and sounds somewhat out of the ordinary, yet not the most original thing I’ve ever heard. I’m not out of my chair looking foward to this anime, but it’s one of those anime that I’ll watch just for the heck of it.

Synopsis: Somewhere in the vast sea of the Internet, there’s a website that can only be accessed at the stroke of midnight. Very little is known about the girl - all we know for sure is that she lives with her equally enigmatic grandmother, that three magical straw dolls accompany and serve her, and that whenever a posting on the Jigoku Tsushin moves her, she becomes the Jigoku Shoujo.
Thoughts: I saw the first season and got bored with the repetition so i decided not to watch the second season. But now there’s a third season? Geez, don’t these anime producers know when to stop? I mean there’s already Zero no Tsukaima 3, Higurashi 3, and now Jigoku Shoujo 3? I’ll consider watching this series, but then i have to watch Futakomori and I’m not totally up for that. So this is a maybe.

Thoughts: I couldn’t find a good synopsis q_q But I saw Ef a tale of memories and thought it was OK. So i don’t know what to think about a sequel. I’m gonna assume it has a totally different set of characters, but same romance atmosphere. But this is just my prediction :P

Thoughts: Yeah, I couldn’t find a good synopsis of the anime series. The game is REALLY popular, which is why I want to check this out. But you know, 99% of the time, when an anime is adapted from a game, it generally sucks *cough cough maple story cough cough devil may cry cough*. I might just play the game instead of watching the anime, but hey, I’ll watch the anime just so I can say "OH SNAPZ, I SAW THE TALES OF ABYSSS ANIMUUUU" yeah.

Synopsis: In order to protect a girl from danger, Junichi Nagase is forced to kiss her. As it turns out, the girl, Yuuhi Katagiri, is a new transfer student and, much to the surprise of Junichi and his younger sister Minato, their father arranged for Yuuhi to be Junichi’s future wife! Of course, getting married to "that perverted idiot" is the absolute last thing Yuuhi wants! Junichi’s crazy school life with his tsundere bride-apparent has begun!
Thoughts: I’m interested a bit, but I’m not really sure if I’m totally up for this series. The art looks nice, but makes me think I’m gonna fall for another crappy fan service romance anime like H20 or Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun.

Thoughts: Bleh. This comes off as something that might not be that good. And usually, if it doesn’t look good, it probably isn’t good. This is on my "wait and see" anime list. If it turns out to be popular and amazing, i’ll go for it. But until then, I don’t plan to watch this anime.

Damn it. Now should I call you since I have been calling you like 3 different name. OK, I’ll call you Sugoi when I’m in this blog then (unless if you prefer the other 3). Haha, summer anime just barely started and yet you already post the Fall 2008 preview ?? LOL. Let see……..for sure I’ll continue (due to the sequel)with: Vampire Knight, Nodame Cantabile - Paris Chapter, ef tale of melodies, Gundamn 00 2, Lucky Star, and Clannad ~ after story. Other than that TodaDora!, Yozakura Shijuusou, and Shikabane Hime look really interesting to me. Damn that’s quite a lot for me to pick up. I need like 48 hours per day !!

I would like to see how they adapt Kuro Shitsuji in an anime. I’m reading the manga on onemanga.com and it is very interesting. That and the fact i have a huge thing for all supernatural anime.

You may want to check out the Ga-Rei manga first. I thought it was pretty lacklustre. It’s your typical shounen manga, so the anime might be very much the same.

Tytania actually has 4 of the best directors behind it, IIRC. At least give Space Opera a chance. Gundam 00 looks second rate, actually, Sunrise is at it’s “HURR MAKE MORE MECHA TO SELL MORE MODEL KITS FOR MORE MONEY” antics once again. Anywho, nice list.

Not that it matters, but you are missing Stitch! from the list, which starts in the Fall. It’s an anime re-imagening of Lilo & Stitch.

Mustn’t forget Clannad ~After Story~. The game itself was supposedly made of pure emotion, and should translate well into anime.
Definitely agree wholeheartedly on Yozakura Quartet. Love the art, love the premise. Hopefully it will have depth.

Wow… I knew that there will be quite a number of good animes coming in October, but I didn’t know there was so many! The animes that I am interested in is CLANNAD ~AFTER STORY~ (I love storylines by key), ef ~a tale of melodies~, Rosario + Vampire Capu2 (I guess we have different tastes… I started watching it because the main character was voiced by Mizuki Nana, and it had quite a lot of action and original happenings, so I was thinking I might watch the second season too…) and Gundam 00 Second Season (but first I have to finish the first season…)
